Job Title: Digital Steward
Location: Community-Based, with preference given to residents of buildings already in partnership with People’s Choice Communications
Reports to: Political Director
Compensation: $20/hour + performance-based incentives
Hours: 10-20 flexibly scheduled hours per week
Job Summary:
Digital Stewards empower communities by providing digital access, education, and advocacy. They work closely with local organizations, schools, tenant associations, and elected officials to bridge the digital divide. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about technology, community organizing, and digital equity.

Key Responsibilities:
Community Engagement & Outreach: Work with schools, tenant associations, and community organizations to identify and assist residents in need of digital access.
Digital Education & Training: Teach community members how to use technology effectively, providing hands-on support for digital literacy, privacy, and security.
Co-Education & Mutual Learning: Foster a learning environment where both Digital Stewards and community members share knowledge, emphasizing collaboration and self-empowerment.
Technical Support & Infrastructure Development: Help build and maintain community-based wireless networks, ensuring long-term sustainability.
Advocacy & Awareness: Work with elected officials and local leaders to promote digital equity initiatives and ensure underserved communities have access to resources.
Program Promotion & Recruitment: Encourage community participation through outreach efforts, events, and referral programs.
Leadership Development: Digital Stewards become local leaders, advocating for digital rights and driving change within their communities.
Qualifications:
No previous experience required—we’ll teach you everything you need to know.
Strong interest in digital equity, community organizing, or technology.
Experience in teaching, mentoring, or peer education is a plus.
Comfortable working with diverse communities.
Multilingualism is a plus.
Ability to learn and teach basic technical skills related to internet access and digital literacy.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
